Of course, we do not know how old you are, how strong you are, and how much baggage you are carrying. We don't even know at which airport you're landing -- San Francisco (SFO) or Oakland (OAK)! Generally, if you're not able to carry the baggage, take a cab. Costs maybe $75 from Oakland, $35 from SFO. Even if you are strong, and are traveling light, you could take BART to Powell St, but there won't be enough space, on the cable car to Fisherman's Wharf, in which to put your bags. The cablecars are so crowded, they're usually standing room only (SRO). So I'd take a cab from Powell. There is no BART station anywhere near Fisherman's Wharf.

say, you can hop off the Powell St cablecar, at Bush St, and eat at ROXANNE, on the southeast corner. Best breakfast and lunch. Also take the N/Judah line, all the way to the end, to the ocean, and eat at Java Beach, while renting their terminals to check your email. Then cross over the nearby Pacific Coast Highway to view the endless Pacific Ocean. you might even see some real-life surfer dudes!

Thanks. We will take a cab as advised. Arriving at SFO with baggage. Many thanks.

How long will you be in San Francisco ? Will you be staying there, or is this just a quick trip between flights ? Gary

The super shuttle will take you to your exact location for cheaper than a cab.

Cab will be the best and cheapest option especially if you are staying at Fisherman's Wharf. Shuttles will add up to more money and will take forever. Can not do BART because it does not go to Wharf, you will have to transfer a couple of times therefore not very convenient.
