Shanghai Shanghai to West Lake - 1 day tour

I will be in Shanghai 4 days in July. I plan to spend one day in West Lake area. Can someone tell me what is the best way to travel from Shanghai to West Lake? Train or bus?? Is there any local tour company that offer 1 day trip to West Lake? I am traveling with my wife and 2 teenage daughters who do not speak Chinese. Is there any English speaking local tour?

There are several options. You could take the train or bus, which may be the cheapest, but certainly also the most expensive way. I took a private taxi and after negotiating I paid 90$ for a day, which also included stops at other places of interest.

West Lake is in Hangzhou, not Shanghai.
From Shanghai you need to go by train (bus is also possible, but slower and not as good) to Hangzhou, then take a taxi (or bus) to West Lake.
