Las Vegas Ideas please of what I can do while my friend is at work!
Posted: Sun May 24, 2009 08:07 AM UTC
Im coming over to Vegas at the end of the month to visit a friend, but unfortuantely she has just got a new job and has to work for most of the time during the days.
So I was wondering if anyone could recommend places for a single female to visit during the day?
I wont have any transport - so will need to use public transport.
Any advice/ideas welcome!

If you are staying with your friend I imagine you will be in one of the residential areas of Las Vegas rather than around the Strip. I have found the bus network in Vegas to be fairly comprehensive so I imagine you will be able to catch a bus nearby. Almost all buses go to the Downtown Transportation Centre (DTC), I suggest you get a map of the bus network from them, get yourself a one day ticket and go exploring. Your friend will no doubt tell you the areas that it’s not best to go to.

On the Strip there are many great hotel/casinos that are fun and interesting to walk around. I’d recommend the Venetian and Caesars Palace. Some places have afternoon shows that are quite cheap, the best idea is to pick up a what‘s on magazine when you get there.

If you are at the DTC bus station then it’s only a couple of blocks walk to Fremont St which is like a mini version of the Strip. Everything is closer together so you don’t have to walk so far.

Hope you enjoy your visit
Clive

1) Wander around the casinos and gawk

2) Wander around the casinos and shop

3) Bring a really good book and lounge by your friend's pool (if there is one).

4) Take a bus tour to Hoover dam (or rent a car and drive there. Next day drive to red rocks and/or Death Valley. Car rentals used to be pretty cheap in LV.
