Hi! What time of year are you thinking of visiting? My trip to Bodrum was quite a few years ago in August - it was stiffingly hot! I visited for the day, and even in the evening it was like a cauldren!
As you haven't filled in your details, I don't know if you come from a country that is used to the heat!

How old are your children - babies/ toddlers/ under 5's? etc. Are they used to traveling?
Bear in mind transfer times from airport etc.
Are you planning on a package tour or booking independently? Are you wanting somewhere lively, with lots of nightlife, or somewhere more traditional with local character?

Other alternatives in Turkey might be Icmeler - Has a beach, some sea breezes, family resort - (quite a few family orientated hotels with entertainment etc) Mainly flat ground, water park, play grounds, boat trips. Near to Marmaris for shopping, nightlife etc. Plus ferry to Rhodes for a day trip, or Dalyan for mud baths, boat cruise to beach (lovely white sands and warm blue sea - but very little shelter) Minus is the transfer from Dalaman airport - 2.5 hours+.
Fethiye/Olu Deniz- Plenty to see and do for families - though again long transfer from airport.
Antalya has nice beaches, historical old town, harbour, nearby waterfalls-(by local bus/ dolmus)Also has its own airport.
These are just a few suggestions-check out VTers pages on Turkey/ Bodrum etc for more information.

Turkey is going to be very popular this year due to its currency - not Euro!
I'm sure that you'll have a great time wherever you decide to go!
Please give a bit more information, so that you'll get answers that might be more accurate to your needs.
Have A Great Trip!
Please feel free to contact me for more info.
Best Wishes,
Sue
