Re: Where can i get a GOOD berliner Weisse? either the raspberry or woodruff Posted: Thu May 21, 2009 01:15 AM UTC
Basically any bar will do. But a "good" Berliner Weiße mit Schuß around Potsdamer Platz? Not a chance, as it will most likely be premixed. A good Weiße (did I just write that, I don't even like that stuff) is freshly mixed when ordered.
You could try Prater, Berlin's oldest beergarden: Kastanienallee - directly at the subway stop Eberswalder St., a 20-minute ride with the U2 subway without changing trains.
If you haven't been to Prenzlauer Berg before, go there. Even if they don't serve Berliner Weiße, some of the bars around Kulturbrauerei, Kastanienallee et.al. probably will.
Alternatively try Caprivi, another beergarden, this time in Charlottenburg at river Spree:

Still too far? Try Strandbar Mitte then (see my Berlin pages), but this should come last, as they don't use to serve Kindl but Berliner Pilsener - not suited for Berliner Weiße.
Warm, sunny weather is a must, if you really want to try a Weiße. That said, you won't get drunk anyway. And even if: It's legal, so no worries.
