I know its rainy season. Im thinking about coming in July. What type of rainy season is it? Rains for a few hours then sunny later, or rains for a few days then stops? Thanks.. Charles

As a rule the mornings are bright and sunny. The rains set in anytime afternoon and usually continue until night time. The Atlantic side is much wetter than the Pacific side.

It depends where you go. like in the Zona Sur
is always raining and its always cloudy.
Not alot of Sun.

Guanacaste usually has what they call the Indian Summer in July where it doesn't rain for a couple weeks. Playa Grande is a good option a little off the beaten path there...

Texas Dave's reply was pretty much right on. July can be beautiful here in CR but there is always the chance of rain. It is one of the prettiest months to be in CR because of the May, and somewhat less June, rains that have turned everything a beautiful shade of green after the dry brown summer. Bring some ponchos or umbrellas and enjoy. Up here in the mountains where we live we had 41 inches of rain in May but we still ended up with 7-8 hrs of sun almost every day. We live in a cloud forest so it rains more than most places. Bring a good book, pull up a hammock and find out what Pura Vida really means or get your feet wet and enjoy the rain, it is just water.
