"Malta is not a place I'd go back to.
There is very little to do and it hasn't earned the nickname of the island of smells & bells for nothing!"
Pity it was not to your liking Mazz.
Suggest you delve in Member's Albums for what you have missed.
"Try Cafe Cordina in Valetta for a beautiful place to eat in"
Apart from lots of restaurants, cafes and Wine bars, there are 5 Museums, tremendous views from 400 year-old battlements, Palaces, a Cathedral and shopping.
"Rabat[also known as Mdina] is worth visiting - probably the highlight of the island -and there is one stately home."
Rabat is a town, adjacent to the 800 year-old Arab Citadel of Mdina.
Once the capital of the island and is as perfect an old city as anyone can find in West Europe.
Exclusive hotels and hidden gardens are everywhere, generally attached to stately homes. :o)
"Fishing village of Marsalox is pretty enough as is St. Julians [sorry spelling isn't too hot]"
MarsaXlokk is very pretty and if one had the time not to be a tourist, very welcoming.
St, Julians is small and pretty full of restaurants and nightlife.
"Jewellery is a good buy in Valetta."
"There is also the famous church of Mostar where a bomb fell through the dome and did very little damage"
Mosta has a church that is famous in being the 3rd largest, unsupported Dome in the world.
WWII saw a bomb fall trough the roof and thankfully not explode.
As Mightymazz says, nothing much to see except:
Blue Grotto,
Blue Lagoon,
Casinos,
Nightlife,
Oldest underground temple in the world.
Bronze-Age temples.
Fortresses,
Beaches,
Sun,
Warmth,
2 Caravaggio paintings,
Palaces and Auberges,
Art galleries,
Restaurants and night-life.
Swimming in pure clear waters.
And a lifestyle unmatched.
I think it is more a difference between being a tourist ans a traveller Mazz! :o)
