Has anyone cycled in cambodia independently? is it safe for three women? Does anyone know where you can hire bicycles for three weeks? I'd love to hear about your experiences?

Are you thinking about doing a bike tour?
It's safer if there are 3 instead of a solo rider and Lonely Planet even has a guidebook on bike touring Indochina (Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam).
I've met a few travelers in Laos who've crossed over from northern Cambodia.
But what time of the year are you going because weather is a major factor.
And if you just want to hire a bike to tour around, then you can hire them in Siem Reap near Angkor to visit the temples. Just be awares that it's about 3 miles to Angkor from town and also be aware of heat.

i have cycled cambodia on my own and felt completely safe at any time.
i crossed the country entering from vietnam and continued over to thailand.

renting a bike that is good enough for a longer trip will be hard in cambodia though.
the bikes you see at the rental places there are not of a quality that i would use for a longer tour.

bringing a good quality touring bike or a mountain bike will be the best option if you ask me.

I think it's a great idea to go on a biking tour in Cambodia...I guess there should be no issues with three women taking up this fascinating initiative...wish you luck...
