We'll be in Marseille on May 24 2010. That day falls on Whit Monday.
Can anyone tell be if Notre Dame and Palais de Longchaps wil be closed. Also wondering if the shops will be closed. Thank you. |

It is a public holiday in UK but I think that most of Catholic Europe would celebrate Pentecost on 31st May and the day later 1st June 2009 is also Whit Monday or in French Lundi de Pentecôte. In UK we have our Spring Bank Holiday (used to be called Whit) falling always on the last Monday of May. They changed it so as not to confuse matters. ...................
So I think it would be business as normal for a typical Monday.

business as usual in France.
as far as holidays remaining in may, we have may 21 ascension, all off work and school may 31 is pentecote day but its Sunday anyway, however June 1 monday is a holiday for school and work too. Although some jobs might have you work as it is elective holiday.Depends on your labor contract ::)
