Hiya, Lothian buses run into the City Centre from Edinburgh Port at very reasonable prices. You have several choices but i have highlighted bus 22 to show the route & prices. Have fun in Scotland's capital, Darren.

Central historical Edinburgh is fairly walkable but there is also a hop-on, hop-off bus (and ordinary buses/taxis of course):

Whereabouts will your ship be docking? Transport options vary.

Cruise ships don't dock at Edinburgh - they moor offshore and you get 'tendered' in. In other words you get into the small boat that will bring you to Hawes Pier, at South Queensbury.
Then you have options for getting to Edinburgh. Taxi, train or bus.
The train is a walk up a hill to Dalmeny Station.

The Bus a flat walk along the front, but not so easy to find the stops.

You want Service Number 43: EDINBURGH - SOUTH QUEENSFERRY/LINLITHGOW/BO'NESS Via Barnton - Dalmeny

Would suggest you open GOOGLE MAPS and put in this address for where you land:

South Queensferry, Hawes Pier

You can see the satellite view of the pier and bus stops as well as the railway station which is about 20 minutes walk away - uphill.
www.nationalrail.co.uk will give you times, details and fares for trains - they take about 20 minutes into Edinburgh.

My cruise ship left from Leith (about 10 years ago I suppose). Buses and taxis.
