On an upcoming trip to BUD, we are considering attending an opera at the Hungarian State Opera House.

Can anyone provide info on suggested attire?

Would jackets/ties be required or is it more flexible and casual tire be acceptable?

My opinion is jackets/ties, but there are quite a lot of people not sharing this view (eg. business casual or jeans/shirts).

Just returned from a trip to Budapest. We made a last-minute decision to attend a concert at the State Opera House. We were a little worried since we had already run out of clothes and had to wear what we were already dressed in -decent jeans/tops. Worrying turned out to be needless since the audience seemed to run the gamut - everything from formal to jeans - just like Broadway in NY!
