Its my first time in Egypt for 1 month in end Oct any tips would be deeply appreciated.

Is it best to visit Abydos and Dendara once in Luxor or Aswan OR best to see it on the way from Aswan to Luxor???
Would it possible for any expat to make a local phone for me in Cairo??

Dendara and Abydos are NOT located between Luxor and Aswan. Dendara and Abydos are located to the North of Luxor.

I visited Dendara while I was staying in Luxor (makes more sense than Aswan). You have to take the Train to Qena and from Qena train station take a taxi to Dendara Temple. It was long time ago since I visited the temple and I might be wrong, the train journey toke an hour and the taxi ride was 10 minutes. the whole trip must hav lasted 3 hours. When I was done visiting the temple, the police called a taxi to take me back to the train station

Abydos is a different story because it further north beyond Sohag. Theoretically, you can take the train from Luxor to Al Baliana and from there catch a taxi. It would a much longer train ride (may be 3hrs) I did not use the train during my visit so to Abydos.

In both trips keep you passport with you and don't be surprised if the police stop you at the station and insist on send someone with to the site from the train station in the taxi. This is more likely to happen in Abydos, It did NOT happen for me in Qena. If you do get escorted by police, it might actually be good because the taxi driver won't scam you and will charge you close to what the locals pay.

By the way before thinking if visiting a far out places like Dendara, Abydos and Edfo see all what luxor has to offer (there is a round 10 of them in Luxor, may be more). you'll probably get nauseated when you see another temple.

Beside the onse in Luxor, phila in Aswan is a must see. Edfu, dendara and Abydos are excellent. but After a while it will become too much.

From Luxor there are daytrips that visit both Dendarrah and Abydos by convoy. You can book them in any travel agency in Luxor, just look for the cheepest. If you can gather more people to take this trip you can bargain for a special price.

During this trip you will visit the Seti I tempel in Abydos and the Hathor Tempel in Dendarrah. Abydos has more to offer but that will take some special guidance and planning. My friend in Egypt might be able to arrange that for you: m.bahaa2@usa.net

There are also 1 day boat cruises from Luxor to Dendarrah. They are full board and go to dendarrah only. To be booked at any travel agency in Luxor. Also look for the cheapest and bargain a price, specially if you can arrange more people for the trip.
