Can anyone recommend a really good restaurant for the New Year with outdoor eating, great food and wine and good views and location. We don't like stuffy atmosphere but do want quality.

Best place I ever went to was the Ambassador Hotel. Amazing view, and I think the food is pretty good too. I can't say about New Year, but probably good.

an all time favourite is La perla in sea point

Try Moyos in Stellenbosch just outside Cape Town. Good food, buffet style, reasonably priced, outdoor (Under/in tree or in tented area). Has live music/dancers, African face-painting. I was there with a group last week and we all had a good time. I understand they get fully booked at Christmas and NY so u would need to book in advance. Look at website for info.
