Madrid Madrid to Toledo by Bus and Horse Racing in Madrid
Posted: Fri May 15, 2009 12:38 PM UTC
I wish to do a daytrip to Toledo from Madrid in mid July.

Do the Continental buses still run every half hour from Méndez Álvaro to Toledo?

If I purchase a 7 day Tourist Pass for Zone T will that allow me to travel on those buses, or do I need to buy another ticket?

For the week beginning 13th July Do they still have evening horserace meetings between 21:45 until 00:30 every Thursday night at La Zarzuela?

Do the free buses still run from Paseo Moret to and from the racecourse?

Do they still have the Sunday morning fixtures?

Thanks

ok will try to answer you as per your points,
continental buses still do the run but from Ave de America interchange at metro ave de America (north station) metro line 7,6,9,and 4.

YES you can buy the Zone T abono turistico for the 7 days and you can travel anywhere in and around Madrid including Toledo on any public transport, I have not used it to go to Toledo so do not know if it can be use, but you can confirm here
Teléfono: +34 91 580 42 60 or the bus station number above.or email at the bus station in Toledo at
estacionbus@ayto-toledo.org

hipodromo La Zarzuela in Madrid with this website, says races on the 16 and 23rd of July 2009.

The bus service for Toledo that used to leave from SUR station is running (I believe) from the PLAZA ELIPTICA interchange that is to the sout and west of the main SUR bus terminal.
Continenatl bus company was taken over by the ALSA group a while back so this route should be on www.alsa.es Look under Routes and schedules.
The Plaza Eliptica station is at this address if you copy and paste into Google Maps:
Intercambiador De Transporte De Plaza Eliptica, Madrid
You can take the Metro Lines 6 and 11.

I have not used this bus. Many people like the fast AVANT train from ATOCHA station but the train station at Toledo is not as close to the centre as the bus !
