Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Jordan Jordan to Jerusaleum
Posted: Fri May 15, 2009 11:30 AM UTC
Im looking at travelling to Jordan in October for about 5/6 days, although the more info i read about it on the forum the longer i feel i should stay.

Is it possible to do a day trip to Jerusaleum from Petra or Amman? Or is it best to find my own way there (how?) and stay for a night then return to either Amman or Petra.

Is it possible and safe to travel from Jordan into Iran?

It seems that hire car may be the best option but i am a female and will be travelling along, would you suggest that a taxi maybe cheaper and safer?

And last but not least, if my partner does decide to come then i will be staying for 3 nights extra in Aqaba, do you know of any good cheap all inclusive hotels that would mayeb do deals for 3 nights or is food / drink in the hotels cheap?

Thank you for your help :-)

I can only answer the first part of your question.

There is no way you can do Jerusalem as a day trip. At least one night will be necessary. From Amman you can take a bus or fly. The bus crosses the border at the bridge which can take an awful long time. From Aqaba, crossing to Eilat and then getting the bus to Jerusalem is a lot easier imo.

If you do want to visit Iran, then do that first. You may have problems getting a visa for Iran if you visit Israel first.

Re a hire car: You cannot take it across the border.

I'm not sure I understand your question right.

"Is it possible and safe to travel from Jordan into Iran?"

As unaS says you can't visit Iran with an Israeli stamp in your passport, but Iran is not bordering Jordan (Iraq is inbetween) so you have to fly there.

There is no "may" about it -if you have an Israeli stamp in your passport you will not be allowed into Iran whether you have a visa or not. Even if you avoid getting the stamp in Israel, if you have a Jordanian stamp issued at a crossing point into or pout of Israel, that will be taken as evidence of travel to Israel and entry to Iran will be barred.

You should go to iran first! You'll never get into Iran after having an Israeli stamp, and should you go to Jordon and avoid the Israel stamp, you'd still have a jordanian stamp showing entry from Israel, so you couldn't get into iran.
Did that make sense?
