Airport Shuttles Posted: Fri May 15, 2009 05:55 AM UTC
Hi,
I am planning my first trip to Vegas, at the end of this month. I have been looking at websites for airport shuttles, and I am a little confused on one point. Do I need to book a shuttle ride to my hotel in advance, or can I just walk up at the airport, pay and board? Also, it looks to me as if all of the shuttles are at Terminal 1 at McCarran, whereas I land at Terminal 2. Do I need to take the airport shuttle to Terminal 1 and grab a hotel shuttle from there, or is there some place at Terminal 2 where you can get onto a shuttle to your hotel?
Thanks in advance!

Just pay and board. They are right out the main terminal, just ask. However, sometimes they take a while to fill up a shuttle, and you may be at the end of the line when it comes to drop off. The airport is very close to the strip. Last time I went the taxi was only $12, could have been less. I have also shared taxis going and coming which reduces the cost. there are slot machines in the terminal, so maybe you could wager a few bucks, get lucky and afford a limo. ;-)

Hey CG! Yes, you can just get the airport shuttle to Terminal 1 and walk up to any one of the shuttle operators' kiosk windows and purchase a ticket. You may then have to wait for that particular shuttle to reach a capacity at which the operator is prepared to send it out - this can be quickly or it can be half an hour or more, it all depends. You can buy a return ticket which works out cheaper than 2 singles and then you just call the number on the ticket 24 hours before your flight and they tell you what times they can do the pick-up from your hotel for the return journey.
Have a great holiday and good luck at the slots/tables!!

If you are at one of the hotels that provide shuttles, just head to the middle area outside baggage claim ( LV has the largest baggage claim in the world it appears). there is an information booth about mid way through the baggage area if you have questions.
for the shuttles just follow the signs and get into the queue for a ticket. If you plan to us the shuttle round trip, it's cheaper to get a round trip ticket normally.
While you're there two restaurants I frequent. One for over 25 years. Pamplemousse on E. Sahara and Sergio's on Flamingo east of the airport. If you go to Sergio's tell John the M-D that Al and Tanni say hello. He used to be the M-D at Pamplemousse.

Hi! I landed at Terminal 2 last December and there was no need to get to Terminal 1, there was a shuttle service right there in the baggage claim area (which is much smaller than the one at Terminal 1, btw). We hadn't booked in advance and that wasn't a problem, we bought our tickets at their little service counter and hopped on the next shuttle. Hope this helps, have fun in Vegas!

When I have flown into Vegas, I just grab a cab. It really doesn't cost too much. A shuttle might have to make several stops and can take awhile for you to get to your hotel. The airport in Vegas is straight forward, a "metro" like system helps you to get around at the airport. Hope that helps!

Take a taxi, it's the most common way to get to the strip from the airport.
