San Diego Where to stay for 2 nights in July?
Posted: Thu May 14, 2009 11:52 PM UTC
Hi there, my partner & I will be in San Diego for 2 nights in July. We are planning to visit Sea World for one day, and relax the other day before our flight.
We'd like somewhere for around $100 US a night & if possible clean, safe & near a few decent pubs/music.
We are thinking about hiring a car to drive down from Anaheim.
Thanks!

There are a few places you could stay that might fit your budget.

Hotel Circle has hotels/motels that are priced in your range, some even lower. Also, there are a variety of pubs and restaurants in the area. The San Diego Trolley has a station where you can park your car without charge to take the SD Trolley into downtown/The Gaslamp Quarter, which is the hottest place for night life.

Old Town is another place that offers hotels of varying price ranges. The Western Inn is the least expensive, bare-bones, but decent and within walking distance of restaurants and bars. Also, there is an SD Trolley station a couple of blocks away and it too offeres plenty of free parking.

La Pensione in Little Italy is a nice enough budget type hotel and there is a small offering of restaurants and pubs near. The rooms are small by most standards but nice enough for sleeping. The SD Trolley has a station two blocks from the hotel.

I have pages on these and other areas of San Diego that might give you an idea of the "feel" of the places in a general sense if you'd like to take a look.
