Acupuncture in Shanghai? Posted: Wed May 13, 2009 11:57 PM UTC
Are there nay reputable practitioners of acupuncture in Shanghai? How does one go about locating one that has substantial experience and knowledge? How much do they charge (approximate range)? Thanks.

hi my friend studied half a year's acupuncture in Shanghai, held by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine which has two affiliated hospitals, Longhua Hospital and Shuguang Hostpital (East Section)
Longhua and Shuguang respectively costs 50 and 20 RMB on each therapy, but it all depends on the medical treatment you request.

My guess is that a lot of the older and more experienced practitioners would not have a good command of English, if at all. Would that be a problem for you?

Yes, despite my efforts my ability to speak Chines is close to zero. But, I may have access to an interpreter who could assist me. Your point is very good - the most experienced practitioners probably will not have any knowledge of English, and I had not thought that through. Thanks!

Also how long will you be staying in Shanghai? Acupuncture, like Chinese herbal medicine, does not fix things in one or two visits, normally it takes several weeks.
