Dublin weekend of the 22nd May 09
Posted: Wed May 13, 2009 02:28 PM UTC
Hi, there is 8 of us in our late 30's coming to Dublin for a stag do.. we are not your teenage lads coming to wreck the town but we do want to have fun. I am the best man and most have never been to Dublin before (I went about 15 yrs ago) and as best man I want to take the guys to some of the best places to let our hair down and enjoy some nightlife that will give us the true taste of ireland - what are your suggestion? On either the friday or sat it would be good to end up in a typical irish pub with live music the other has to be a 80's disco... again any suggestions? we are staying off temple bar (of course)

James,
The oldest pub in Dublin is the Brazen Head in Lr Bridge St(near the Four Courts) so that might be a good place to kick of your weekend, also across the road is O'Shea's The Merchant, where you will find traditional music and dancing. Not too far away in Smithfield is another traditional pub with live music, The Cobblestone (www.cobblestone.ie), it's quite small and get's packed at weekends as it's very popular.
As for nightclubs, I hope someone else can give personal recommendations but you could have a look at www.dublinuncovered.net/nightclubs.html or www.dublinpubscene.com/clubsvenues/cvdirectory.html
Lillies (Bordello)is allegedly where the glitteratti hang out but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best place to go!
I hope you have a great time, Anne Marie
