From my internet research, it looks like the average temperature in Dublin in July is the high 60s (farenheit)--is that usually the case? Looking at several hotels with great rates, there just isn't air conditioning. Thanks.

you can get any kinda weather in northen europe that time of year (and for most parts of the year by the way).
You rarely have extreme heat in northern europe though and cecause of that you only find air con in the most expensive hotels as you hardly ever need it.

There isn't usually air con because it isn't usually necessary (same in the UK).

Temps may reach the high 60s, but they most certainly don't stay there at night except on very rare ocasions.

It is so unusual for us in the UK and Ireland to have uncomfortably warm nights that air con just doesn't feature in our consciousness. We just open a window if required.

I really don't think you need to be concerned, to be honest. Just choose a hotel which suits and, if you are lucky enough for it to be too warm at night (fingers crossed, but no guarantees whatsoever) just open a window. :-)

When I asked my Irish friend when is it a good time to visit Ireland concerning the weather his answer was: "For ***** sake, no one goes to Ireland for the weather, you go for the Guinness".
So don't worry about the weather, just take an umbrella and you will be fine ;-)

i don't go for the guiness either.
i think it's one of the most foul beers on earth sharing that position with budwiser and carlsberg, but i go for the irish as it+s very hard to find kinder people than them.

Well, I guess it was not good answer for me either, I still haven’t visited Ireland, but if I go it will be for the countryside and the folk music that I like.

Gosh! I love draft Guinness, but it's best in Ireland. I don't think it tastes the same anywhere else.

The average maximum daily temperature in July is about 20 celsius (68 Fahrenheit), but usually it will only hit that level for a few hours in the afternoon (if your lucky). As Leics said, it is highly unlikely to be at anything like that level at night - the average daily minimum in July is only 11C (52F).

i love stout beer but i seriously thing that guiness was a crime to the world of stout followed by a clever advetisement campaign.

the irish pubs are still unique though and full of genuinly fiendly people with their grannies and children joining the fun

Nooooo.....Guinness has been around for donkey's years! Since 1759...not much in the way of advertising then!

But the stuff in bottles and cans is just not the same as the proper draught beer you get in Ireland (I slipped into US spelling in my previous post!).

But I always prefer dark beers anyway.

i have been to dublin and tried the real thing at the brewery and i still think it's about the same quality as dishwashing water.
there is nothing god about this foul drink.
the world is full of wonderful stout beer, but none of it bears the name guiness, just like havanna club is not a good rum either.

.. I know we are not talking about weather anymore, currently living in Melbourne but when I return to Ireland I will cherish evry good pint of Guinness I get! I have found 1 pub here that serves a half decent pint of it and that's where you'll find me every Sunday night :-)

But I have tried to give it to my friends here and only a few have taken to it. It's like Aussies eating Vegemite, terrible stuff :)
