hi there - i'm coming from NYC - where anything really goes re: what people wear.

i'm visiting berlin for the first time in a week and saw that the forecast shows it'll be VERY HOT during the day in berlin! in nyc, people literally stop wearing clothes when it's that hot...same in berlin? of course, i don't plan to wear skimpy clothes, but will wearing flip-flops be accepted? i know that in europe people dress a bit more conservatively. please let me know if wearing flip flops would be offensive to cafes, restaurants, museums, etc.

What? If you're visiting next week (and not in July/August) you must have gotten something wrong. It is true that it's quite warm in the sun, but overall I'd call it a bit chilly. Right now, 11am, it's sunny at 55°F, last night temperature dropped near freezing point.

Forecast for next week is around 65°F during the day, expect some 45°F and lower in the evenings.

Well, speaking of offensive: no flip flops, no shorts and no t-shirts in a church, that's the one thing you should not forget. Other than that, do as you like, still, I wouldn't wear flip flops in restaurants or museums, looks a bit cheap and touristy IMHO.

He he, you have to come to Berlin and see that actually everything really goes or even nothing goes as you will not get arrested for being nude in the park in the heat of July ;-)

thank you everyone for the response - yes i was totally mistaken re: weather - it shows quite bit of chilly weather :( (and some rain too!). i heard berlin is famously windy, so i'll have to bring jackets and DEFINITELY no flip-flops. i'll just wear my converse sneakers! any other tidbits would be appreciated!
