Rush Hour Driving from Century City to Angel Stadium in Anaheim Posted: Mon May 11, 2009 06:04 PM UTC
Hello all,
I am going to a baseball game tomorrow (Tues) night. I will be leaving the Overland exit area off the 10 freeway at 5pm. I need to get to Angel Stadium by 7pm. The most direct way to go is the 10 East to the 5 South. Is there a better way to get there that would have less traffic? Or is any freeway south at that time going to be bad?
Thanks so much for the help!!

All the freeways are congested at that time. Two hours should be enough time, but things happen.
Have you thought of taking the train? I don't know the timetables, nor where near Ceenury City you could pick it up, but there is a train station within walking distance to the Stadium.

Oh Amy, that is a tough drive especially at that time. Is someone riding in the car with you? If so, I would take the freeways that have car pool lanes. The 5 narrows down to 3 lanes only for a stretch with no car pool lane. The 91 has a car pool lane and so does the 105. The 105 ends at the 605 so I would opt for the 91 instead. The 405 might be okay, I haven't driven that in a while. More than likely, it will be slow going. I would leave at 4:30pm instead because there's going to be traffic just getting into the stadium parking lot. Good luck! GO Angels!

Used to be a story when I lived in LA about someone getting caught with an inflatable woman in the passenger seat - hear it was true! That's how far people will go to get in the car pool lane. Personally I think a dummy would have looked more convincing ....
Awww ... I'm a Dodger fan myself ;=)

Yes, and unfortunately I will be driving alone. I think I'll just leave at 4:30 and bring my patience. I'm actually a Red Sox fan, going down to see them! Thanks everyone!

You are in luck ;=) About 18 miles before Angel's stadium, right off (about two blocks) I-5 there's Arthur's restaurant in Downey. Any time I'm anywhere near that area, I stop at Arthur's - it is such a treat!
Little homely place, everything made on the premises (bread, sausages, etc) - cook used to be a gourmet cook and opened this place - here's a link to my tip: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/9e639/b7a4d/2/
If you are able to leave a little earlier and love *good food* - you may want to plan a stop there. Guarantee you will love it!

I think taking public transit would be your best bet for getting there. You'd have to take a bus from Century City to Union Station though. But, if you need your car...
Your time kind of depends on how far up Overland you are from I-10, because that's a really congested area at rush hour. It could take you a half hour just to get onto a freeway.
I would avoid Overland and take Manning (from Pico) through the neighborhood. There's a ramp to the 10 freeway toward Downtown right there. But that freeway is likely going to be solid (probably in both directions).
I'd also try to take the 105, by going south on the 110. It usually seems to be a bit clearer but does end at the 605, so you'd have to jump down to the 91 anyway.
