Hi, is this walk possible to do on your own or is there a cheaper version than priced at 16 Euro's at all.
I'm a history buff so does anyone know what remains of the post office,
thanks

The post office is there and they have left a number of of bullet holes in the columns. The visit to the Kilmainham Gaol is well worth the effort.

Yes there's no need to pay for a guided tour. The Wikipedia article "Easter Rising" is pretty comprehensive with good links and you should be able to work out your own tour based on that. The General Post Office is still there, albeit rebuilt obviously, but still bears the scars of the battle.

Also you'll find all sorts of useful info and freebie guides at the tourist offices.

Have a good trip!

In April we did a guided tour of Dublin with the Free Tours. Our tour guide told us a lot about the history of Ireland, post office included. It was an excellent tour! The tours are really free, the tour guides are only paid by tips. I can recommend these tours, and I'm sure the guide will be happy with a tip less than 16 Euro.
