Hiring a scooter in dubrovnik?

Hi,

we are going for a weekend break in dubrovnik and we are wondering if it is worth hiring a car or scooters for the weekend or use public transport. Is parking bad for scooters too?>

We are hoping to stay in a cheaper hostel outside the walled city and wish to see the coast / islands in this time.

Well, you can take a ferry to the island of Lopud or take a taxi Boat along the Coast to Cavtat (you could also take a bus there) and within Dubrovnik they have good bus service so if you are only there for a weekend renting a car or scooter probably isn't worth it.
