Can somebody suggest restaruants in LA. I am looking for Japanese and Mexican ones.
Preferably the ones that serve GOOD food and nice setting. We will be visiting LA and we need to celebrate, aniversary and b-day!
thanks in advance!

Nice setting, how about great setting. On La Cienga Blvd, restaurant row, "Koi" is a perfect Japanese restaurant to celebrate anything. Reservation a must. See website: www.koirestaurant.com

Mexican food is everywhere in Los Angeles. El Cholo in Santa Monica on Wilshire Blvd has great food and margaritas. See Website:http://www.elcholo.com/

When ever I travel and want to check out restaurants, I like using www.opentable.com. It's very helpful. Type of food served and reviews are posted. Restaurant's own website link is also posted. I've been a member for a long, long time. I make my reservations through the site and earn points. Every 2000 points, I get a $20 dining gift certificate! Doesn't cost me a cent. Enjoy your visit to LA!

+1 on Koi. You can also check out Yamashiro, great views of LA/Hollywood. I don't think the food is the greatest, but the setting is really nice. http://www.yamashirorestaurant.com/ This is more in Hollywood, which is not far from West LA.

Katana on Sunset might be a good option. Very trendy, however, so be prepared for the short skirts. that said, lovely patio overlooking the strip.

Sushi Roku is the sister restaurant on 3rd.

The best Mexican joints tend to be further East.
