Hi all, i`m at that age where the newspaper has to be that little bit further away to read... im thinking of getting an eye test and specs while in Phuket, any suggestions on a good place to go?

There are lots of opticians in Patong so look to see one that has frames you like and go there. I have known several people who have bought glasses there without problems. My one tip is to do the deal as soon as you get there just in case there are any problems so they can be fixed before you return home.

Good recommendation above about getting the glasses done earlier to make sure that problems can be resolved before departing.
One national chain is called Top Charoen and they're located in many major cities and towns throughout Thailand. Most optical stores do general eye exams for prescriptions for free.

Before going through the expense, have you tried the magnifiers first?

Thanks for the advice..
Ive been using magnifying glasses for 2 years, its time to get me eyes tested I think, im going to Phuket in Sept. and thought I`d get it done while im there. Is there a roundabout price of the cost I can expect to pay.. thanks

Top Chaloen is not bad... now they recently open it's own clinic in Bangkok-Nonthaburi (huge one). Also, you might want to check out Bangkok Hospital Phuket as well. They might give you a good advise on this. Bangkok Paradise
