Manila Astoria Plaza Residential Suites - Ortigas
Posted: Sat May 9, 2009 03:58 PM UTC
Would you help me decide if Astoria Plaza Suites is fit for 5 adults to stay. Will book 2 units or One 2-bedroom unit if possible. If 2 units, one will be occupied by one person and the other unit by 4. It is only a 1-Night stay before heading to Baguio City.
I am also considering Holiday Inn as this is also a 4-star hotel like Astoria. Also considering EDSA Shangri la but seems too expensive.
Please help.

Shangrila Plaza the best. My stay with Discovery Suites was also comfortable. I have not stayed in any other hotels in Ortigas.

Astoria's 2 br unit can accommodate 4 adults. If you don't mind, the 5th person can "sneak" in. I'm not sure with Holiday Inn, but I'd been to Astoria's 1 br unit and it's quite spacious. It has a living room, dining room, pantry, 2 t/b.

The Astoria in Ortigas? I and my six month old son stayed in a one-BR unit here and it had a small dining table and kitchen. The design is minimalist and there is a very nice restaurant at the lobby. The only problem we had with this hotel is that it was hard for the taxi to find and at night, it was just a seven-eleven that's near the hotel. I think I did a review of this hotel in my Philippine pages, Freddie....I am sure the two BR suite would be comfortable for 5. The Shangri-La is nice and a bit overpriced but might be worth to try for a night. At Astoria, we knew one of the owners so they gave me a discount for a two-week stay with my son...Norman :)

I've stayed in Astoria and Holiday Inn. I think the Holiday Inn is a better proposition for families (it is connected to Robinson's Galleria Mall). Astoria is a little to far to walk to the malls of Ortigas (and the streets too dark). Have you tried the Linden Suites?

Even though your stay is for 1 night only, it will be uncomfortable for 4 persons to stay in one room especially if you are heading to Baguio the next day. Why not book 3 rooms. US$75 room rate is reasonable for 4-star accom. Have stayed at Astoria in 2007 & 2008 and had no problems. As a matter of fact we will be returning there in 2 weeks. Even though Holiday Inn is closer to the malls, the rooms are dated and a bit costlier. Although both sites offer free breakfast. I did stay also at EDSA Shangrila previously when I was still able to afford their rates. First class hotel but out of my budget now. Buon chance!
