Krabi Krabi accommodation
Posted: Fri May 8, 2009 03:11 AM UTC
Hi Im trying to find somewhere nice to stay in Krabi for around 2,000baht/night. We are a family of 5 2 Adults & 3 kids(tweens). I'm looking at the Central Krabi (Golden Hotel I think it's called) or the Tipa Resort...or of course, if anyone has another suggestion, basically value for money, the kids are impressed with a nice pool or access to nice beach & if they're happy we're happy!
We leave next Wednesday 13/5/09 for 4 nights in Krabi then off to phi phi.

Look forward to leading lots of tips - thanks for your help.

Hi..

Good choice going to Krabi for vecation.
When you mentioned Central Krabi not too sure if the price is more than 2,000 THB per night or not. Normally anything under Central brand the price are much higher than this.

Normally, when we (my husband and I)travel, we will look for a nice resort (small) and the price is between 1,500-1,800 THB per night.

If I give you a list will they think that I'm advertising? I hope not

Here they are

Ananta Burin
Sand Sea Resort
Andaman Lanta Resort (starting at 850 THB) nice resort
Aonang Cozy Place
Aonang Sunset Hotel
Baan Andaman
Bay View Resort
Buri Tara Resort
Chaya Resort
Baanlay Bangalow
Arayaburi Resort Phi Phi
Cha Wan Resort
Lanta Butique House

Many of the mentioned name above have swimming pool and some of them a just a walk away to the beach.

Hope this will help you a bit

Hi OP Jane,
when you say Krabi are you referring to the town of Krabi or to the province because there are towns such as Ao Nang or Railey West that would meet your family's needs with swimming pool. Anyways, was in the area last month and it wasn't that busy so you could elect to wait until you arrive to shop around and see the places for yourself BUT major discounts are given by hotel websites which would be much cheaper than 'off the street' or 'walk-in' rates.

As for beaches, Raileh West is much nicer than Ao Nang. Napporat Bech which is west of Ao Nang is very shallow at low tide so you kids might enjoy chasing small crabs in the mud flats. Overall, Raileh West's beach is beter and there are areas that are roped off to protect beach-goers from longtails and speedboats.

Thank you, thank you with your suggestions it really narrows it down. I was thinking of Ao Nang but Raileh West does come up as being a nicer area which I think we will look at - is there any suggestion there?

Many thanks all.

Jane

I'd stayed at Sand and Sea some years back and it was fine. Suspect prices have gone up considerably since then but was also in the area last month and it still looked nice. Again, best to book via those hotel discounters on the internet rather than trying to negotiate a discount upon arrival/walk-in. Hope you like the area. BTW, if you do decide to stay on West Raileh, I'd recommend making a run to Ao Nang or Krabi-town and load up with snacks and beverages since resorts tend to charge considerably more for everything. There is a minimart that we visited at Railey but prices there were still quite inflated.
Also, if you're looking for an inexpensive Thai meal, lots of Thai families head over to Napporat Beach for picnic meals.

PP Erawan Palms Resort Krabi,Beautiful hotel situated directly @ a quiet beach. Perfect spot for snorkelling or diving trips. Rooms were clean and spacious, personnel was always helpful and friendly. Breakfast with view at the sea, nice beach restaurant only 1 minute away. Kho Phi Phi is almost paradise!

My Boyfriend and I stayed here for 8 nights from feb 5th, First impresions where ok, thought the hotel reception area looked very nice and inviting, staff didn't seem to speek much english and check in was quite slow, but still ok.

Room was lovely, clean, fresh and plenty of space.

I would point out when purchasing and drinks/food from the hotel there is a 20% service charge and a tax charge around 7% this isnt included in the price. I found that abit cheeky i will tip someone if i feel they have made an effort. food was fine although we did tend to eat out alot.
The location was good just around the corner there is a strip of shops/bars/resteraunts i recomend the blue mango for food (5 min walk from hotel)

Breakfast is abit disorganised but filled a hole.

overall i would say this is a good hotel with good value for money.
