Hotel selection Posted: Thu May 7, 2009 07:41 PM UTC
Hi Everyone,
Ill be staying in Beijing for 7 days in September. I'm thining of staying at the Wangfujing Grand Hotel because it is so close to all the major sites near the Forbidden City. One drawback that I've heard is that the subway stations are about a twenty minute walk away.
For anyone who is familiar with that area of Beijing, are there convenient public transportation near that hotel to the subway stations? Walking twenty minutes back to the hotel form the subway station after a day's excursion to sites not near the Forbidden City is not appealing.
If anyone has suggestions of other hotels in the area. Let me know.
Thanks.

I stayed in that hotel when I was in beijing. It is between the great shopping belt of wangfujing and the subway station. A few good restaurants also are located between. Wonderful if before and after a day's trip to have breakfast and dinner.

There's so many tourist attractions in the Dong Cheng district, and walking around the area is half the fun!
Enjoy.

I would recommend CityTel Inn, Nanjing Grand Hotel, Tang Yue Hotel etc. All are within 5-10 mins walk to either Tiananmen East or Wangfujing metro stops.

Yes, the subway is no more than 10 mins away from the hotel. Don't worry about that. That whole area has many bus stops and if you can read Chinese or even if you can't it will be fun to hop on a bus and see where it takes you just to get the experience of being on a Beijing bus!
Have a great trip!
