I am planning to travel Singapore later this month. I dont have a credit card for Internet Hotel booking. One of my friend has Credit card and he will be booking a hotel for me. Can someone please tell me if my friend (thirdparty) can book the hotel for me using his credit card? Or the traveler must have his own credit card for Internet booking?

You may be asked to produce the credit card used to make the booking when you check in.
Read the Terms and Conditions of the Booking very carefully.

Producing the credit card used for booking usually only applies to booking flights online. I frequently book a hotel room online in my husband's name with my credit card (different last names) or vice versa. When you check in you can just give a new credit card to use for the payment. (I do that with car rentals also. Book with credit but pay with debit card.) But as ranger says read the terms and condiions.

Donna - British Airways once refused to check me in on a flight to LA because I produced, when asked for a Credit Card, a different one to the one I had used when making the reservation.
After making a fuss, obviously producing Passport, then Driving Licence and my Dept of Social Security Pension details they gave me my boarding card.
Easycar hire in Barcelona refused to let me have a car until I had completed, in full, their complicated application form online, standing at a computer in the corner of the cupboard they called an office.
So now I am always very careful about it - but admit it has never seemed to be questioned in hotels, either here in UK, or abroad.

Yes, Barbara, they always ask for the cc at the airport!! I don't have many credit cards but I usually only travel with one and my debit card so I'm extremely careful about bringing the correct one to the airport. I think that in Mumbai, they would give us a very difficult time if we didn't provide the correct card! (On one of my trips with BA from Mumbai to NY, they didn't even allow online payment. I could book it but I had to go into the city of Mumbai and pay at the BA office! It's difficult keeping up with everyone's rules!)

You could call the hotel direct and ask.. I have booked my daughter in to shows and hotels(different name) no problem.Pre paid .From Australia to use in England. Oh yes David paid the Singapore Hotel for his friends too. Credit cards not a question but it was all prepaid.

David also paid for a friend in England to come to Aust, and he paid for a flight to Singapore for 2 people (March 09) Singapore airlines and we had internet check in ... the 4 of us were together though..and again Emirates London to Australia (April 09)

The big BUT is we booked the flights thru a travel agent. We were not asked for credit cards just our etickets and passports.But then it is about hotels you are asking isn't it?

Why don't you book through venere.com or booking.com those places might be bookable
a credit card is required only for booking in case you'll be noshow, but you can cancel without any charges, just read carefully.
you wil not pay anything till you'll be there so no problem at all.
