my son is working in Lindau this summer. He is flying from the UK. Which major airport is the easiest, quickest and cheapest to travel from to Lindau - Munich? Zurich? Frankfurt?
many thanks

Friedrichshafen and Memmingen are the closest airports, serviced by budget airlines. If he flies with a big airline Munich, Zürich and Stuttgart would be fine, they all have good train connections to Lindau.

With budget airlines:
Bodensee Airport, Friedrichshafen (FDH)
http://www.fly-away.de/

Allgäu Airport, Memmingen (FMM)
http://www.allgaeu-airport.de/

by distance: Friedrichshafen, Zürich, Memmingen, Stuttgart, Munich
by price:
Friedrichshafen (EUR 5,10 - some direct trains exist)
Memmingen ~ EUR 20
Stuttgart EUR 19 (Baden-Württemberg Ticket Single - only regional trains) *)
Munich EUR 20 (Bavaria Ticket Single - only regional trains) *)
Zürich Airport (EUR 25,00 - some direct trains exist)

*) Not much of a disadvantage on either route. Both tickets are day tickets, but on weekdays only valid past 9am.
