In the food line, buy a jar of powder called Lucuma. Look up Lucuma on the internet and you'll see what it is. Absolutely delicious!

Hi,

anything that is made out of Alpaca wool, like scarfs or pullovers. Nice quality and very warm. (But must be dry cleaned). We brought back a lot of those. Prices must be negociated. Best buy it on a big market or regular shop. Don't know if it helps as there is no information where you come from (sun or cold).

Enjoy your trip and the Pisco Sour.

It depends what you like. I tend to like the local candies they sell on street corners, but that's me. I also love Inca silver jewelry, unique looking local minerals/stones for jewelry, local handicrafts, handmade wall hangings, textiles, and of course, the famous alpaca scarves!

Enjoy your trip!

In no country I have bought as much stuff as in Peru (and Mexico...).

Got a wonderful alpaka rug. They do scenes just by patching different fur colours together. Sun, mountains, inka man, alpaka. Super soft and beautiful. (Just when you lie on it in black clothes you wish you had thought about it before lying down...)

They also have beautiful handmade dolls in traditional costumes, bowls made of clay, fantastic carvings on little pumpkins, hats, bottle holders, etc. Not to forget great paintings which can be easily transported if you buy them unframed, just roll them. Ah yes, and silver jewellery and handmade bags and baskets... I got it all LOL

Finally, a bottle of pisco - for making Pisco Sour.

There is a huge outdoor market right at the train station in Aquas Calientes (Machu Picchu) that is full of just about every type of weaving etc. you can imagine. I bought way too much stuff but was under the spell of the gorgeous bright colors.
