Hi Everyone,
I was planning to possibly take a trip to Brugge over the New Year's holiday. For those that have been there at that time, is there anything to do there during the holiday? Are places actually open on New Year's Day? Thank you!!

I do not know of any special or specific activites (check the Brugge calendar on the city's website). However, like in all major towns in Belgium, Brugge offers a variety of Christmas season's activities. Christmas markets or fairs, open air skating, adapted tours, Ice sculpture exhibition etc.

Belgians will also spend time at the seaside to celebrate the New Year. Here too (the seaside is only a whisk away from Bruges), you wille find a variety of activities like New year's eve corrida's, fireworks, bonfires etc

Early January Oostende has an annual New Year's dip in the North sea; you don't have to participate, but cheering on is also tintillating...

Plenty to do and enjoy...
