Re: Transportation early in the morning. Posted: Fri May 1, 2009 08:42 PM UTC
I am having trouble working out the bus timetables fom this link:
http://www.brusselsairport.be/en/parking_transport/to-and-from/bus
but from looking at
http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/
you can definitely get a train from Brussels Central station to the airport for that time. There are trains at 5.16, 5.40 and 5.52 and 6.04. Journey only takes around 20 minutes.

You're welcome. :-)
Think I'd prefer the train anyway: it's quicker.

Yes, but I booked a room some miles from the city center. I'd have to take a bus and then a tram.
Ops; I mean Zaventen airport.

Zaventem is Brussels International Airport, so the train is ok.
Now it's just a matter of getting you to the station......

Just an English exclamation......sort of 'o my goodness'. Probaly derives from 'Christ', but is not regarded as blasphemous or impolite,.
Right......back to the bus search. Where is your hotel?

It's in rue Verhas. I've just tried to search the stret with Google maps, but I can't see where that area is located. Anyway I think it's quite far from the city center.

There'salink on the STIB page I gave above which tells you about the airport express bus, with timetables and route maps. It might even pass near to your hotel.
Pur 'rue verhas brussels'into google, click and then select 'maps' from the top left of the google page. You'll get a zoomable streetmap which shows you exactly where the street is.

It's not too far from Brussels Central station really...too far to walk, perhaps, but a taxi shouldn't cost too much.

You can actually plan trips door-to-door using the trip planner on the belgian raiways' site.
Just go here:
http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/index.php
Then choose "city, street nr" from the drop down box above the "from" input field. And put your starting address in the input box like this "Schaarbeek, Verhasstraat" (You're not staying in Brussels, but in Schaarbeek).
Put "Brussels airport" in the to box.
On weekdays there is actually a bus going directly to the airport from near where you're staying.
