I have traveled to CPH 6 times in the last year and this June returning with 4 colleagues who would like to venture out of CPH for a day trip. One has already been to Elsinore and prefers a new destination. If weather is good prefer outdoor (but not hiking) as opposed to indoor activity such as a museum. Any picturesque area or other interesting towns reachable by train or bus?

you could go to roskilde and sail in a viking ship.
it's possible every day during the summer months.

Thanks for the suggestion. It sounds very fun and a bit different. Do you contact details for that and can you give an idea of time it will take from the time we leave central station until ship ride is done? Also is it rain or shine?

the train ride from copenhagen is around 40 mintues and you can go sailing for an hor or two when you are there usually.

You might also like to consider the Karen Blixen Museum. It is only a short distance northwards up the coast. We drove but I am pretty sure it can be easily reached ny train and bus.

The Museum tells the story of the famous writer whose auto-biography "Out of Africa" was made into a film starring Meryl Streep.
As well as the Museum - her family home - there are extensive gardens and woodlands to explore. Her grave is in the woodlands.More details here below.

If its good weather you might like to go to the beach up north of Copenhagen (S-train to Klampenborg 20 min from the central station) there is the Bellevue beach (it will most likely be densely packed, topless sunbathing is normal). Combine the beach trip with a walk or horse carriage in Dyrehaven (old royal hunting ground) and then visit the amusement park Bakken (worlds oldest still running) in the southern part of the forest.

I second that idea (ranger49) of visit to Karen Blixen museum. What an amazing womanshe was, with such an interesting life & legacy.
