Hi - I'm not totally understanding your plan. Do you intend to spend 1 full day in New York, then 1 full day in Washington, and 1 full day in Niagara Falls? If that is the case, you would be travelling the entire 3 days! Or worse, are you trying to get to NY after 2 p.m. then back to Boston for the next morning and then go to Washington after 2 p.m. and back to Boston?? The distances are too far to allow you to do that.

On the two days you have to be in Boston until 2 p.m., I would suggest you stay in Boston and sightsee there. If you have 1 free day, a trip to Niagara will take too long. It would even be too much to travel to New York from Boston for 1 day.

Let me know if I have misunderstood your question.

If you leave Boston at 2 pm to go to New York City, you won't be there until evening no matter how you go (bus, train, or plane), and if you have to be back the next morning for meetings you will spend all your time traveling without seeing anything. It is about a 4 hour drive by car and not much better by train. And Washington D.C. is another 300 miles south of that. Neither of them are a day trip destination.

Niagara Falls is an 8 hour drive from Boston, so would take a full day or more to drive.

If you are meaning to travel someplace after conference hours you must pick someplace closer to or in Boston. (Lexington, Concord, Plymouth, Salem, Cambridge)

If you mean to make a weekend jaunt, you might be able to do that to ONE of the places you mentioned, but not all three.

If you come in early for the conference you might fly to D.C. and take a day or two there, and then fly to Boston for the conference and then go to NYC or Niagara Falls after the conference.

When you're done with this instant transporter you plan on using to get between these cities, please let the rest of the world in on it.
Seriously though, if you want to take a day trip out of Boston, then there are plenty of places that are doable, but the cities you listed are not. I would just stay in Boston though, because it's a great city with plenty to see and do.

All of the above info is good advice! Boston and the surrounding area has plenty to explore for several days (weeks even!). There are some nice day trips you can take via the commuter rail and many nooks and crannies to explore via the subway and walking (it's a very good walking city!)

Also consider the 90 minute ferry to Province Town, which leaves from Long Wharf.
