Botswana One dilemma!

Does anybody knows where i could find information about volunteering in Botswana? someone from there (i contacted him through a social network) proposed me some kind of volunteering but he said i still had to pay from 10 to 15 euros for accomodation and food. Is it normal that you have to pay for accomodation during volutnteer? it would be my first experience as such so i have no idea, but an advice would be of great help.

It is usual to pay for all volunteer work, this money goes towards whatever the scheme is for.
If they are only charging you for 10-15 euros, I would not complain too much, most schemes cost hundreds.

Ricky is right.

Not only do you pay for food and accommodation in most, if not all, volunteer work anywhere but the majority of reputable volunteer placement agencies also charge fees which support the work.

The whole point of volunteering is that you are helping in places where there is no money to pay for the help needed.

However, I would be very wary indeed of volunteering through someone you only know through a website. Very wary.

It would be far better to research official volunteering opportunities, and see what is available. Google'volunteering botswana' and you will find several sites, such as:

On reflection this amount of money sounds far too cheap.
I would not think of contacting this person again, it just does not sound right.

Let me get this straight... You're thinking of going alone? ( You said "I", not "we". ) And this is someone who you met on the net?
