Lebanon Egypt to Lebanon?
Posted: Wed April 29, 2009 01:29 AM UTC
Hi all,

I will be traveling to Cairo and then to Gaza as part of a student delegation. I'd like to travel to Lebanon either at the beginning or end of the trip, and was wondering 1. would I even be able to enter Lebanon and 2. are flights between Cairo and Beirut relatively inexpensive?

Shukran!

I think you can first Visit Gaza, then Cairo, and from Cairo you can book a flight to Beirut-Lebanon, I am not sure in detail how much a ticket would cost, the last time I asked it was around 300$ USD = oneway, but you can check it online , but keep in mind you need to book a flight ticket at least 2 days in advance, Lebanese air lines is called MIDDLE EAST AIRLINES,you can contact there sales office in your country or go to their site.

Their Site is : http://www.mea.com.lb/MEA

I don't see why you can't enter Lebanon, it does depend on your nationality, so Ask in advance if you need a Visa, if not I don't see why you can't visit Lebanon.

Hey thanks for the info, very helpful. I'll check out the airline online. I'm a US citizen, so shouldn't have too much trouble entering...?

You can only enter Gaza with special permission (almost always only via the UN or an NGO) from *Israel*. Since you will have been to Israel and will have evidence of it in your passport, you will be denied entry to Lebanon if you go *after* being in Israel. Therefore, your only option is to go at the beginning of your trip.

We do have permissions to enter Gaza (contingent on Rafah border opening). So if I enter Gaza on the Egypt side and, if I were to enter Israel without having them stamp my passport, I would still not be able to enter Lebanon?

I'm thinking I'll just spend more time in Cairo, skip Lebanon this trip altogether. But thanks for your help!

The Rafah border crossing is almost always closed and, when open, it is for Palestinians only.

You can ask Israel to stamp a separate piece of paper, and in over 95% of the cases they will oblige (it is never 100% certain). However, you will be stamped out of Egypt by the Egyptian authorities, and an Egyptian stamp at an Israeli border crossing is just as "lethal" as the Israel stamp itself.

Of course you would be able to enter Lebanon, you're on an educational mission. Don't worry tickets aren't expensive. Hope you enjoy your stay while you're here, I'm sure you'll be paying us other visits :)
