You can deffinatly do this but it will be extrimly expencive.
Just for compareson one way Budva-Podgorica is €50
Best is to get bus from Budva to Nikshic and get out at the bottom of the road wich leads to Ostrog. The bus driver will let you out.
Just walk to the village, about 1km up the road to Ostrog & you can pick up furgon(mini van) to take you up to the monastery.
There are many of the mini vans waiting to get full so they can run up the monastery.
Djudging by your name -Branka , you are ofiginaly from these parts & I resume Christian Ortodox.
So for that reason, I think best is the van to drop you to the lower church of St Ilija, and than walk to the monastery.
By tradition you should walk up barefoot, you will see many people doing the same, and using to ancient trail, rather then the aphsfalt road.
If you need more info just yell.

Yes you are correct, I'm serbian Orthodox. I live in Australia and have nearly all my life. So you think bus to Niksic is the best way. How often does this bus run, do you know where do I catch it from in Budva. When is the best time to get there? do you recommend somewhere near ostrog for lunch or in Niksic.
Thanks for your help

From my experiance, best is bus to Nikshic, as is more regular.
Busses run from Budva to Podgorica at least 5-6 times a day, and Nikshic-Podgorica atleast 4 times a day.Budva -Nikshic via cetinje in summer season is atleast 4 times a day.
You might to go Budva-Podgorica, Podgorica-Nikshic, and get our at the bottom of the road to Ostrog.
We had lunch in the village on the way back from the Monastery. There are few "Birtije" -Restaurants/ Caffes, and we choose the one caled "Ostrog"
It was very nice, it is situated right in the middle of the vilage on the main road from the monastery on the left side. Big white 3 storeys bilding with restaurant on the groung level.
We had few local specialities & usual "Roshtilj".
Nikshic is nice for visit, St Nikola church and the kings House too. Than you can choose wich resturant you like, but funny enough in comperason, the food in the Village is cheaper than Nikshic.
They do catter for people who come to the Monastery as far as Russia, USA & Australia, but majority of people are from Former YU, and the prices are adjusted accordingly.
Happy travels.

BTW there is 6.00am bus from Budva to Podgorica, you are in Podgorica about hour latter. Than get Podgorica -Nikshich bus , if they didn't adjusted their tametable there is one at 8.50am by 9.45 you are at the bottom of the road leading to Ostrog.
I think is best to go early in the morning, as is very hot during summer montsh. DO NOT FORGET BOTTLED WATTER!!!!!!
Also you will have time to realy apriciate the Monastery & Nature. have leasurly lunch, and than eather continue towards Nikshic or go back to Budva.
If you want to stay the nite at the monastery, you can do it, but you will have to book now, or atleast month ago! Very popular.
If you want to stay in the Monastery you will have to contact them directly at the Montenegro Ortodox Diosses.

As for Nikshic is OK enough, but instead I would visit Danilovgrad, not far away from Ostrog, town wich was earmarked to be seat of Montenegrian Kingdom, than they changed their mind and Cetinje was the seat of the Montenegrian Kings.
