Anyone been lately? Do they still take photos of you holding a tiger?

I have not been to Phuket Zoo for years and after my one and only visit I advise people not to go there as I think the conditions for the animals are very poor.

Don't go there. The place is a heartbreaking example of inadequate animal care and abuse.

I guess it cant be any worse than the tiger temple...drugged out big cats, that was sooo bad to see...

The Phuket Zoo is a bad zoo and I find it a very unpleasant experience. I've been twice. The second time was to update my report to several organisations and little had changed.

I believe they do still do photos with the tigers. There is the fully grown one that they continually hit on the paws with a stick while he's chained to a concrete pad where you can sit for your photos and there were two tiger cubs kept in a small cage when they weren't being pulled out for photo opportunities. It's up to you whether you choose to support this kind of treatment of animals. I guess they have to get the money to feed the animals by some means, although if no one supported it, they'd have to close.
