quick answers :
most of the temporary shack's will be off the beach between april mid to early october, otherwise all other restaurants and stuff will be opened.
May and June is usually quite heavy rains, but i've seen goa at its best during end june & early july, its pretty pleasant compared to march/april/may/june and green all over.
Lesser crowd, so you can be an leisure and not get caught in traffic and crowded beaches.
Other than december-jan, i think between july to october is also a good time to be in goa and beat the crowd.
Agonda & Palolem are the good quite & scenic beaches in the south of goa, less crowd during july. Arambol & Morjim in north of goa are other quite beaches.
have fun

accomodation will not be an issue at all during that time, rates will be down and you can get good deals.
it rain's sometimes for 2 days at a stretch, but that's probably once or twice during may/june/july, of your staying for 2 weeks and more, enjoy the rain too, not many tourist's have had the opportunity to enjoy the rain in goa, sip some fenny or brandy and enjoy the sea, sand and rain...

Monsoon has it's charm... Goa turns green!! after the rain washes away all the garbage and rubbish... it looks clean. Tropical rains at its best!
Of course most restaurants and shops remain closed but there are quite a few which are open.
Best thing about this period is, you have lot of space where ever you go. No crowd..

hi heidi
monsoon is magical time in goa. green less crowded and yes the best place in monsoons would be baga calangute and due to goa now becoming an all year destination the hotels restauarnts and shope are open but the ones which do seasonal business only for foreigners shut down.
but i would personally recommend goa in monsoons pls see my write ups on goa in vt on my page
you also get fabulous discounts in monsoon best month a little towards august end when you dont get very heavy rains . also i wd recommend you to be in goa during the ganpati festival this year it starts on august 23 and lasts for 10 days.
regards
