Los Angeles LA Metro
Posted: Mon April 27, 2009 08:55 AM UTC
Will be staying in North Hollywood and wonder how safe it is on the metro? We were thinking of taking metro rather than car to Hollywood and Highland and then onto Union Station but worried about the safety aspects.

I have heard that it is not so bad for the first part as it is mostly families like us, but it is the Union station journey that worries me.

Thanks in advance for your hel[p

I've taken the subway in LA quite a few times and it's clean, safe and uncrowded. Many people in LA will only drive, so leaves more room for us taking public transit.

I've travelled the metro on my first time to the States with another lady pal and we did alright. I guess just as long as you don't wander late at night and you keep your wits about you, you will do just fine. On my next trip to LA with my senior-citizen parents and husband, I also took the metro to save cost on our way to the airport.

In this article LA for free, I've mapped out the way to get to the Walk of Fame and Universal Studios using the Red Line subway and then bus 720 to get to Rodeo Drive and Sta. Monica Beach.

Please note though that the bus may encounter traffic so best to start your day early.

I have been to all 3 stations by myself and no one ever bothered me. I met two interesting people as a matter of fact.
