How is the zoo in Lima? Is it easy to get to from Miraflores?

There are two in Lima:
1) PARQUE DE LAS LEYENDAS: It is in San Miguel (near Miraflores), this zoo is the biggest, there are animals from Peru and other countries.

2) HUACHIPA: It is in Huachipa (far from Miraflores), it is small.

Thank you, Have you been to the Parque de las Leyendas? I will be in Lima in a couple of weeks and have a day, after the historic tour, to do something on my own. Since I live in San Diego, California, and the Zoo here is one of the best, I'm interested it going to other zoos.

I went to the the Parque de las Leyendas zoo on my last day before my flight as it is quite close to the airport (short taxi ride). I enjoyed it, there is enough to keep you entertained for a few hours. I remember a big monkey island & a big rainforest birds selection with amazing parrots.
I was afraid to see a somewhat derelict zoo with poorly looked after animals but it was clean and everything looked fine.
