Guatemala Travel Forum

Hi! I was originally planning a holiday to Belize but have now turned my attention to Guatemala and I'm not sure where to start with my planning. I would definitely like to visit Tikal and Antigua, and any suggestions of other places to see would be gratefully appreciated! My interests are broad - I like hiking, volcanoes, lively markets, anything a bit 'off the beaten track' and the Mayan ruins are of great interest to me. I'd also be interested in any caving activities, although, from what I've read, these seem to be possible mostly in Belize. Has anyone done any caving in Guatemala? How easy is it to get over the border to Belize?

Don't know where you'd cross the border into Belize but you do not need a visa to get there. The exit tax from Guatemala is about $1.50US. If you are going back to Guatemala from Belize, keep in mind the exit tax from Belize is about $40US.
