I stayed at Mandalay Inn before. & yes it's very close to old market. Only US$20/nite for 3 beds room. for two I thinjk ~Us$16 only. But further on another street but abit deep inside, I saw one even better hotel..Golden Temple..near Artisan Angkor Ctr..I think that one much better. I should hv choose that one..Looks far from the maps but actually still within walking distance.

Infact the whole Siem Riep surrounding Old Market to Central Market & Nite market area are walkable!

I would recommend Mandalay Inn also, comfortable and cheap, under 20 usd per air conditioned room. in Siem Reap there are plenty of hotels to choose from and there are some good ones at the price range you mention

Just a note in case you have not been there before
- it is a small place and most hotels are no more than
5mins away from central market by $1 'taxi'
if you really want a treat then the Victoria Hotel is outstanding
do not know current rate

Somadevi on Sivatha blvd. I stayed there 2 years back and it was really nice and walking distance to the markets and shop etc in Siem Reap. If you book on line you can get a good deal for around $70 per night inc b'fast. They will also provide airport transfers.

try this hotel it was great with hugely friendly staff - but a little further out so the posting about taxis is relevant - I dont know the cost we paid as a package for this hotel and trip
Hanumanalaya Boutique

I was in Siem Reap in Mar 09. I stayed at the Mandalay Inn and was very satisfied. It is definitely within walking distance. The Ei8ht Rooms Guesthouse is also an option. However, the hotel that is in the perfect location for you is the Terrasse des Elephants Hotel. I only walked by it but maybe someone else knows about it.

Hi,
Bopha Angkor is just across the river and very nice place with good breakfast included and below your suggested price.
Easy to find on Google search.
