London Travel between Heathrow Terminal 5 and 3 - is it free?
Posted: Sat April 25, 2009 03:27 AM UTC
I have been getting conflicting information on whether or not the Tube is free for travel between Terminal 5 and the other terminals in Heathrow. Does anyone know for sure if they charge for this the standard one trip charge, or is it free?

Is there a better way to get from one terminal to another? We have another flight to catch with a 3 hr layover.

Thanks!

Heathrow's website says that you use a transfer bus and not the tube to get between terminal 5 and terminal 3. Every time I've transferred through Heathrow, I've had to take a bus. Just follow the signs that say flight connections when you get off the plane. There is no extra charge for using the bus.

You can use the underground train too (free). The station is easily accessible (a few minutes walk...you don't have to go outside) from Terminals 1,2 and 3 and well-signed.

Trains run every 15 minutes or so, journey time 3 minutes.

There are buses too, taking 10 - 20 minutes. They are 'ordinary' buses, but the transfer between the terminals is free.

Tube (underground) is by far the easiest option, imo.

This horribly long link gives details:

But if it doesn't work, go to www.heathrowairport.com then click on the 'Airport Information' tab, then on 'Travel between terminals' on the left-hand menu.

Hi,
It is not the tube, but the Heathrow Express train that you can use to transfer between terminals. The tube (underground) doesn't go to terminal 5. If you have to pay, you're on the wrong train!

My apologies for misleading, although the link I provided is clear enough that it is the overground train not the Tube. I was thinking of T4 at the time..
