Oktoberfest- cheaper accomodations further away?

Turns out we'll be in Oktoberfest for the beginning of Oktoberfest. It would be great to spend a day there with all the activities... but the other two days we wanted to see the Neuschwanstein castle and see the BMW factories etc...

Is it possible to stay somewhere a little further? The hotels are going for a small fortune due to Oktoberfest.

take the hotel in Fuessen, so you can get to Munich by train and to Neuschwanstein by bus.
Closer to Munich and with good trainconnections :
Lochhausen, just 5-6 stations by S-bahn to Oktoberfest:
