Lyon Lyon City Card
Posted: Fri April 24, 2009 04:43 AM UTC
A few questions about the card:

1. How much is the card if you buy it when you get in the city, as opposed to before hand online? The website says there is an online discount.

2. The card says you get unlimited free use of public transportation. Does this include funiculars and/or velo'v bicycles?

3. Has anybody used this card to take a free river cruise? If so, how long was the cruise? Did you enjoy it? Can you also take nighttime cruises, or only those during the day? And, can you use the card to take more than one free cruise (like you can do with the museums)?

4. If you buy as a student online, do you have to prove you are a student when you turn in your confirmation at the tavel bureau? If so, will a student ID from a US school work? Or, do you need to have an International Student ID?

Thank you so much for any help you can offer!

Happy travels!

well never use it, sometimes these prepackage deals end up costing more than pay as you go deals. However, this is what it can do for you;

Yes you have access to all public transports in the city, funiculars yes but not velos. Free entry to over 20 museums and temporary exhibitions and several discount for shopping you can get it free at LYONCITYTOURS with guided city guides of Lyon Tourisme & Congrès office or at the cruises boat rides of LYONCITYBOAT in the rivers Saône and Rhône. In other words if purchase one of their tours they give the card for free....... not taken boat rides either.
preferential prices if purchase on line ahead of arrival of 18, 27 or 36 Euros according to the days of your stay ,the card will be given to you upon presentation of the reservation confirmation at the Lyon tourist office at Place Bellecour ,city center.

you can show your US student card for the discount, it is accepted. Hope it helps.

Hi Lisa,
about velo'v , the first 30 minutes are always free; so, it's very easy to jump from one free bicycle to another! you can buy a short use card for as low as 1 euro to avoid the deposit requested if you are usijng a normal credit card
here's the english link:
