can anyone please give me some information about night life in colombo ...also if there are any raves or all night beach parties/music dance festivals,international dj's performin .

Hi there,

It's limited
a) Mostly Fri and Sat evening
b) You find most in the star-class hotels in the business district, though the dance parties attract by and large 'locals' (including expats). Also there are some party spots and bars near Union Place / Ward Place area.
c) Not much on the beach except for the Mount Lavinia suburb, which is a lovely resort-inside-the-city.

Better inquire once you're there. Upon arrival on the airport, you can grab a free tourist information magazine; usually Explore Sri Lanka and/or Travellanka. A few nightclub names from the Travellanka that I grabbed last month:
* Kudos, 206 Havelock Road, Colombo-5
* Pier 3 Boat, 381 Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo-10 (Beira Lake, close to city centre)

PS There are also 4-5 casinos in town, they also usually have live entertainment etc.

I had some really good parties at a place called Rythm&Blues (R&B). It's like a very nice bar, with live band over the weekend, pool tables. Quiet a blast actually! And a good place to meet others and find where to go next! Don't dress to cheap as they have put the standards up a bit there.
