Fes Travel Forum

Hi- we are 4 people coming to see Fes in July and are looking to hire a private car/driver from the ferry in Tangier to drive us to our hotel in Fes. Any ideas on who/how to do this? All the travel agencies etc wont do just that, they only want to make it into a giant package deal etc.

Contact your country's embassy in Morocco and ask for a recommendation.

You could ask your hotel in Fes to book a transfer / taxi for you. Or you could contact a VT member from Fes directly and get help. Fouad aka Travolta159 would be able to steer you in the right direction.

you could also hire a grande taxi from the taxi station - not from the ferry terminal where the taxi sharks are but catch a taxi from there - a grande taxi if you seen one on the outskirts of the terminal area - to the Grande taxi station which is in the same place as the bus station - and haggle a bit so they can see you know a thing or two and not just going to accept any stupid price that someone who thinks you dont know any better might try to get from you.

you can pay for all 6 seats that a grande taxi is waiting to sell before he sets off. that way they will get passengers when in fes to bring to tangier and not charge you what they should for their return journey. unless you want to keep the taxi for a 2 or 3 day hire or something so you can use it to go see Volibuli, moulay idriss and meknes and perhaps moulay yacob while you are there.

The cost of a grand taxi from Tangier to Fes should be about 1400 dirhams, give or take a few hundred. But as another poster said, you really should get your hotel in Fes to arrange it for you, most drivers in Tangier will be pretty lost trying to find your hotel in Fes.
